As we prepare the festivities for this September 18th, our teacher Alberto Gamboa would like to dedicate some words for all the Hankido-in.
“While in Korea they enjoy the last days of the summer time, we on the other hand, are starting to feel the rays of the sun with pleasure and complicity, to forget at last, of those cold nights. There´s been movement…indeed…But wouldn´t be boring if life didn´t spit to routine? Politics, Economy, Wars, Earthquakes, etc… It´s been a lot from it all and for all tastes. My life has no escaped from this vortex and I’ve seen pictures of all kind passing through my mind. My shadow hides itself, drinks a martini and waits to see how I survive without her. But I learned since I was a wolf cub, that you have to swim a lot and very hard to get to the favorite beach, with or without a shadow.
Ah… HANKIDO!… HERE WE ARE… Chile continue and will practicing in the path of integrity….There is trinity…but we believe in the unit of concept. Three things that are only ONE. I don´t think we are the lighthouse of Alexandria, but we want to learn to enlighten following the pattern of our founder.
Korea is clear in its basis, but the lack of information does not help to those who doesn´t speak their language, It is clear that the tournaments have helped the federation to expand itself, but at the same time, in my humble opinion, have created a separation of the holy trinity of our federation.
Diversity is good….as long as does not create chaos and competition itself. I vividly remember, the second and third games, under the closer supervision of KUKSANIM alive. There was encounter, camaraderie and family in the air….and all the participants beside of learning and exchanging experiences, jumped at night to the fire of friendship lighted by the hosts. That was the fire that lit up the hearts of those who still have the responsibility of guiding a Hankido-in through the path. Now it is different, the important things are the golden medals, to be the best, and the before and after. The most important are the photos, the videos and the political influences also known as lobby. Thus we can see how the orange gores fall apart, almost in silence, without wetting the fingers…… I feel very sad about this. At first, I let myself dig into the anger and disqualification. But I will not deceive myself. I can only guarantee to my students that I will continue training and learning to fulfill my promise to KUKSANIM, which was to be a Hankido-in and a Hankido instructor. Life is round, therefore, I wouldn´t be surprised to be jumping bonfire again with my brothers in martial arts in a near or far future at all. Let´s not forget that time is relative. Good luck to all of them…the new federations…to the new prophets …..to those who train…and those who say that train…to the bearers of the truth or lies…. And good luck to us all who pick this place to see the horizon.
There is no resentment, no envy…..it´s only homesick of the good times.
Happy Holidays!
